My Quest to Promote Positive Body Image Continues: NYC Edition

By Jackelyn Ho

This weekend, I am going to be part of an event that I so strongly believe in. If you are in the New York City area, I hope you can join the fun! As a group fitness instructor and someone who founded a positive body image magazine, my biggest mission life is to help people realize how undeniably beautiful and awesome they are. Oftentimes, we get so caught up in what other people think and say, that we can’t take a second to appreciate the fact that we have strong and functioning bodies. One of the biggest things some women struggle with when it comes to body image, is feeling comfortable in the clothes they wear, especially when they work out. More specifically, it can sometimes be intimidating to don only a sports bra during a workout. I don’t know about you, but weird things like that can make a girl feel self-conscious. With that being said, I will be taking part and teaching at Dare To Bare on Sunday October 4th, hosted by the Movemeant Foundation. This event is called Dare To Bare because all the participants will be wearing just a sports bra and working out. It’s the ultimate sign of body confidence and support for one another. All the proceeds for this event will be going back to schools who need financial assistance in their physical education department. It’s a charity fitness festival in which classes will be happening all day long, including my very own cardio kickboxing class at 10:45 AM and Abs + A$$ at 1:45 PM. There will also be some solid SoulCycle, TRX, and bootcamp classes rockin’ out! Tickets are only $30 to the fitness festival, so get yours now! When I’m not teaching, you can find me at Spright’s Relax + Restore station, where we will be setting up a massage station. Let’s exchange hello’s and hugs!
